Race Weekend Details

There will be a change to the race loops from previous years with the elimination of the bridge after Armadillo. (It washed away last fall). We will post new maps by June 2019. The distance will be roughly the same.

Pre-Ride Information: 

The trails will be open for pre-riding Sunrise to Sunset- $10 daily fee for pre-riding. Please sign in at the main office when you arrive at Camp. There will be no overnight stays during the pre-ride weekends.  Race maps and Pre-ride maps are here

Friday August 30, 2019– 1 P to dark- we will be marking the Start/Finish, Lisa Lane, and the Mine during the day on Friday- on the pre-ride maps, those are the ORANGE sections

Saturday August 31, 2019- The XC course will be open except for the delays on small sections of trail during these following events: 

8:30 am- 10:30 am– Collegiate Short Track- Start/ Fish/ Finish.  Racers will have the right of way over Pre-riders.

11:20 am- 12 noon– Unicycle Crit- Start/ Fish/ Finish. Racers will have the right of way over Pre-riders.

3:25 pm – 5:00 pm: Adult/ Junior Team Time Trail. The Expo Area /in front of staff housing /through Mine/ bottom of Longhorn to 12 & under split/ Finish. Racers will have the right of way over Pre-riders.

4:50 pm – 6:15 pm: Super D- The uphill of the Super Zip Trail in the North Loop, Wagon and the downhill portion of Longhorn in the South Loop. At the bottom of the Super Zip climb into Wagon, on the jeep road after the Super Zip Trail and on Longhorn there will be intermittent closures for the race to go through. Please listen and obey the course marshals here.

6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: “I’m not a racer XC race”- The 10 & Under Team Time Trial course, the 10 & under XC course (Boot) and Fish. “Racers” will have the right of way.

Camp Eagle Information:

Gate hours: Friday: 1 P- 1:30 A/ Saturday 6:30 A- 12:30 A/ Sunday 6 A – 11 A

  • No dogs are allowed on Camp Eagle property. If you have a service dog, please call to inquire about possible accommodations.
  • Camp Eagle welcomes RV’s but does not provide any hookups or dumping.
  • Cell service is not available at Camp Eagle. Wifi and land lines are available at the main office.
  • No ground fires are allowed on Camp Eagle property, nor are there any public grills. Personal camp stoves & similar cooking devices are welcomed.
  • Camp Eagle does not offer any fuel services. Please take care to fill up on your way in.
  • Smoking is not allowed inside any of the lodging Camp Eagle offers.
  • A helmet must be worn any time you are on a bike.
  • Land Access Fee- Everyone ages 3 and up attending the Camp Eagle Classic must pay a one time $10 fee at the front gate.

Collegiate racers have an option to compete in each individual event or all three as an omnium. The events are the Short Track Cross Country, the Super D, and the Cross Country event. The collegiate athletes will compete during the festival events but have their own start times. Short track loop 1+ miles. Entry Fee- $15 per event/ All 3- $40

10:00 AM           Too Cool Racing Family Fun Adventure Race

Family Fun Adventure Race. FREE!! Teams of 2, 4 and 6- at least one minor per team. Approx 1 hour race. Any age welcome!!

11:30 AM            Unicycle Crit

$7 entry fee – Awards(2+ miles)

1:00-2:00 PM     TMBRA Kid’s Cup and Safety Race Series

Multiple events designed for ages 12 & under including instruction on bicycle safety, a race course pre-ride, and a race for the competitive.  Registration – Opens at 12:00 noon- Event from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. FREE event

2:00 PM              Festival Velopalooza

Any or all of the following: Huffy Toss (toss a Huffy), Huffy Ghost ride (push an unmanned Huffy and see how far it will go), Slow Race, Bicycle Limbo, and other things we may come up with. FREE event!!

2:30 PM              1st Time Racer Clinic

James Webb- Mafia Racing Tent- Learn the rules, race etiquette, registration, passing & being passed and much more. Even if you’re not racing, loads of great tips for mountain bike riding. All FREE!!

3:00 PM              Costume Crit-  

This is a short race around the Expo Area- 4 minutes plus the bell lap. All bikes are allowed. Costumes are mandatory. Awards and recognition to the first across the finish line and for the best costume (spectator’s choice). Registration closes at 2:45 pm. The racers start at 3:00 PM- $7 entry fee

3:30 PM              Adult/ Junior Team Time Trial- 

Adult/Junior teams race against the clock over courses from 1.5 to 3 mile in length. Teams are made up of at least one junior rider with a parent, older sibling or friend. Classes are determined by the age of the youngest rider. Clock stops when both teammates cross the line- Don’t drop your teammate!!

Classes: Boys & Girls 10 & under (1.2 miles); Boys & Girls 14 & under (2.4 miles); Boys & Girls 18 & under (2.4 miles). Registration closes at 3:30 PM. Race starts at 3:30 PM.- $7 entry fee

4:50-6:15 PM        Super D part of XC course closed for XC pre-riding (Super Zip and Longhorn Trails)

5:00 PM              Texas State Championship Super D 

This is a hybrid of downhill and cross-country with very little uphill. The course is devoid of jumps, is not extremely technical and has a flat finish. It is a mixture of rocky jeep road and single track. The course is 2.5 miles and drops 350 feet. It starts at the Windmill, follows the jeep road to the Super Zip trail, then to Wagon, the first part of Longhorn and all the way to the finish. This is a mass start event per category- Each category starts every 5 minutes beginning at 5:00 pm – $15 entry fee

Categories: Men: Open, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+, 18 & Under, 14 & Under. Women: Open, 19-39, 40+, 18 & Under

5:40 PM              Collegiate Super D

6:00 PM              I’m Not a Racer XC Ride 

…But they drag me to these events every other weekend and there is finally an event for me!! For those that want to ride with others in a low key environment and take home a ribbon, this is your event. Everyone is a winner! Two distances offered, the 10 & under Team Time Trial course (1.5 miles) or the 10 & under XC course (3 miles and a little more technical). 6:00 PM FREE event!!
